The safe and quiet world of a complaicent couple is shattered after a decade of uneventful courting when Gordon proposes to his
homely girlfriend, Sylvia. Syliva's joy is short lived when Gordon's pompous father arrives on the scene with his wife to
make his opinions known to Sylvia's salt-of-the earth parents.

Meanwhile, Yvonne, Sylvia's best friend, has plans of her own ...
