Bursting with good food and rum laced tea, three prosperous Edwardian couples from the West Riding town of Clecklewyke gather together once more to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversaries. Anniversaries shared each year since they all married in a joint ceremony at the Non-Conformist Chapel 25 years ago, of which they are now leading members.

What a to-do when they learn that the young minister who married them may not have been properly qualified for the job! The implications just don't bear thinking about, and to make matters worse the shocking news has been overheard by the Helliwell's highly irreverent charwoman, Mrs Northrop, who won't hesitate to make her own kind of a meal out of it.
